Since the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) is in the news with their recent excommunication from the Catholic Church, I thought I would share two first hand accounts of the SSPX that show the interior life of the SSPX. This is helpful as many might focus only on the current news stories and polemic debates.
The first is Traddyland, A Memoir of a Radical Traditional Catholic, by Louis Massett. It is an authentic account of his experiences in the Society of St. Pius X and his later departure. This is a great read and genuine discussion of Massett's involvement in the SSPX and his gradual realization that there is something wrong with its mindset.
The second account comes from the Journal for the Study of Antisemitism, where a former SSPX seminarian explains the radical antisemitism taught in the SSPX seminary in the United States by the rector, Bishop Richard Williamson.
These two independent stories demonstrate both the false ideology of the SSPX and the human debris field that the SSPX leaves in its wake. Hopefully the papal excommunications will lead decent Catholics to avoid this group.
